In use, bend the outer plastic casing of the glow stick enough to cause the the Ampere bottle inside broken ,then shake to make the chemical liquids both inside and outside the Ampere bottel mixed up and take the chemical effect, the light begins giving out and stick 'glow'. . The different colors and week stronge lights are decided by the defferent chemical liquids and their densities.
